General hours that I worked were home game days, typically for 9-10 hours. The day before games there is optional pre-game day set up which usually took 1-2 hours. There were other non-game day events that we were given the opportunity to work. These events were typically all day affairs.
Description of Internship from Crew Site
Are you a student interested in gaining experience with a professional sports organization? Do you have a passion for marketing, promotions and fan development? Columbus Crew SC is looking for outgoing and engaging college students to serve as Match Activation Interns for the 2017 MLS season. This internship provides a variety of sports-marketing related learning experiences, specifically in event production, supporter development and promotions. Academic credit may be available.
Match Activation Interns report to the Membership & Special Events Coordinator and collaborate directly with the in-house marketing intern.

Goals and the opportunity
From this internship I want to gain knowledge of the sports industry. I want to experience and understand game day management, marketing, and operations on the professional level of sports. Through this internship i want to get a better understanding in potential career I would like to pursue in the professional sports industry. Another goal of mine is to establish connections through this internship not only with Crew SC staff but anyone else i may meet at the games of events. My main goal is to help create a potential job opportunity with the Columbus Crew.

Opportunities & Responsibilities
- Execute Matchday activations including coordinating with on-site vendors, hanging banners, setting up tents, tables and sound systems and running supporter engagement stations
- Demonstrate and maintain Crew SC brand standards while serving as an ambassador of the brand
- Assist in executing in-match experiences, halftime contests and pre-match activations
- Provide a fun, entertaining and positive experience by interacting and engaging with MAPFRE Stadium guests
- Promoting Crew SC by creating a positive and exciting atmosphere while interacting with guests, sponsors and supporters
- Assist guests with various Matchday elements including seat location and in-match experience
- Additional Crew SC membership events as needed
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and enrolled in a college or university program
- Ability to attend Crew SC home matches, including evening and weekend assignments
- Must be able to lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and move continuously during work hours
- Must be able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal communication skills. Customer service experience a plus
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of Columbus Crew SC and Major League Soccer preferred
